Is my standard manufacturers Warranty affected if Serviced by you? Put simply, the answer is 'NO'.

Most owners of new vehicles are mislead by the Manufacturers Franchised Dealers. They are often led to believe that their new vehicle must be serviced by a Franchised Dealer during the course of the Warranty, otherwise it will be invalidated.

This is usually not the case. Many car Manufacturers have now relaxed the hold they have on new car owners regarding Manufacturers Warranties. Peugeot, Renault and Citroen are Manufacturers who have indeed altered the conditions of their Manufacturers Warranty. This means that owners of new Peugeot, Renault and Citroen vehicles now have a wider choice of where to have their car serviced. The obvious advantage to the customer is cost. Franchised Dealers usually have much higher over heads than the Independent Workshop.

Most Franchised Dealers have a large amount of staff and oversized, expensive showrooms - the cost of which gets past directly to you, the customer. Secondly, there seem to be fewer Franchised Dealers around today, and many customers have to travel further than before, if they wish to have their vehicle maintained by a Franchised Dealer.

This makes it difficult for customers who have to take time out of their busy day to take their vehicle to the Franchised Dealer, and then find further time later to collect it when the work is complete. Also, it does appear that waiting times are growing at Franchised Dealers, meaning that the customer often has to wait weeks before they are able to get their vehicle serviced. Independent Workshops are usually able to offer bookings much sooner.
